View Full Version : Quick Question....

13-01-2004, 09:04 PM
Just popped in on behalf of my father-in-law who has recently bought a Clubman estate but who also owns a Swift GTi....

....how much work is involved in fitting the Swift engine into the Mini ? I have followed a couple of the links on the site and the Minis with the Swift engine seem to have very tidy installs. Is there a site that explains what needs to be done/where to get the necessary bits ?

I'm hoping that it isn't too much work, as I'd rather like to "look after" the 1293 engine that is currently in the estate (unless I can persuade him that the GTi engine would be better in my car....)

Thanks for your time (I'm sure that you have been asked this question thousands of times before)

As far as I know there's no companies offering the conversions, and like you say not many websites for people that have done it ! Which site's have you looked at so far ?
The only two I know of are www.twincamturbo.com and www.miniman.com.au/turbo.htm

I think there are a couple of sites that show how this is done. At the moment I am at work and no access to my info. I will try and post some for you tomorrow. JS

Check out my site as well as there are a couple of pages on a Suzuki install into a clubman, including pictures of the frame buildup...Mike

Thanks for the info, I shall have to have a look at some of the sites and let my father in law know.

I have seen a few 16 valve Minis at the shows this year and they all look fantastic, but I'm guessing that the Suzuki engine, being so much smaller, would be that much easier to fit than the larger engines.

Thanks for your help - if anything happens I'll make sure that I let you know....
