I know this is a bit of an open ended question but if I was to buy the correct ECU for the astra 16vXE without the wiring loom has anyone got any ideas as to what would be involved in wiring this up to the sensors and controling ignition/spark etc.

I noticed FMB Spec vauxhall conversion seems to be runing a heavily modified standard injection system and I persume this is controlled by the factory ecu. Has this been done using the astra/cav wire loom. I have bought a set of carbs and was going to go the easy route but having seen this its got me thinking again.

Yes you could use the standard ECU, BUT I would say get the loom, if its like the Cav Gsi I just broke then the engine loom is fairly self contained. I imagine doing a loom from scratch would be a major pain in the arse

Hi, the wiring loom on our (fbm spec) mini is standard ( well almost) astra gte. I say well almost cos , i had to extend the wires to the tps and air flow meter. I wouldn't even dream of making a loom from scratch....by the time you have bought all of the plugs/ connectors you could have bought 5 looms from a scrap yard!!
It does use a standard ecu.
