well chaps, how long do you reckon the rover section will be here for, now that they are doomed.
its disgusting, british manufacturing has vanished, what would happen if there was another world war, we'd be goosed, everthything is made in japan, they'll take over someday.
i've had rovers all my driving life, i dont like em but i'm gonna drive vaux's when theyve dried up.

Yep - I think its bloody terrible. Its the same with everything in britan though. If there was a war there is no way we would be able to support ourselves. For starters we have nowhere near enough farms anymore to feed everyone in the country. We rely far to much on other countries I beleive.

Can't see parts disappearing anytime soon.

If/when they do, I'll just have to drop a different engine in.

There are a lot of specialist companies working with 'K' series engines so I would expect at least one of them to step in and fill the gap. I would think that one of the MG specialists will want to ensure a supply of parts for the MGF so bushes etc for the 'K' series subframes should be available. Parts for Lotus Elise engines of course because they have only just started using Toyota engines.

Can you honestly see the demise of the MG and Rover Brands. They'll probably be snapped up for five pence ha'penny from the liquidators and it will all start over again. Hopefully the doom and gloom for owners should be short lived.

Main thing I'm sorry about is for the poor sods who put in so much work to keep the company going, 'The Workers' not Pheonix, they are all now on the dole and redundancy payments won't amount to much for the 5 years that the company has been in existance.

I read in my local paper (solihull - home of land rover) that Land Rover has enough surplus K engines to carry on production for another 18 months. The K series engine is owned by the japanese - rover had already sold it, so they will keep it in production i should think - or maybe improve it

the engine wasnt strictly sold, its alot more involved than that. and the improved eu-compliant "k" was just around teh corner.. Im not sure whether powertrain(the company that make the "k")will still be going. tehre futures a bit uncertain.

I believe SAIC have purchased Powertrain along with the rights to the 25 and 75... altho i mighthave heard this wrong.

If this is true, i doubt if the chinese can improve the K but atleast it will be readily available....

The same thing as the last war...Canada supplied a lot of supplies to Britian during the war, as did other parts of the British Empire...it's only fair to support you as you gave us Minis! :)
