I picked up a VTEC engine and box and upon getting it home found a broken threaded lug (the box was wrapped up to stop oil leaking and I was stupied enought not to look inside the wrapping)

Is this the bolt holes for the front engine/gearbox mount ?

The box is a Y2 with cable operated clutch.

If it is any idea how much it would cost to get it ally welded so I can re-drill the hole ?

Thanks

Can someone just take a peek down the front of their engine and tell me if these mounting holes are used or not, I have looked through all of the pics in the gallery but none of them show the front very clearly (usually covered by the rad).

If they are used I need to have a serious think about finding another gearbox :(

Duck,

The lug that is broken on your transmission is normally used by Honda for an auxiliary motor mount, used to control engine torque reaction. Whether or not it is important in your swap project depends on whether the sub-frame you are using also bolts a motor mount there. In the frame I build, that lug and the one above mount one of the three auxilliary motor mounts.

Sorry I can't help you on where to get it repaired.
