Does anyone here use a DTA system on their vtec ? If so, what have you done for the crank position sensor ?
Cheers !

I have used a Ford crank sensor that is positioned on the crank pulley that powers the alternator. I think this is what most people have done, but any sensor can be used really.

Have you drilled out teeth into the original crank pulley, or added a plate of some sort to the side ? I had my pulley machined, but it was packaged so badly it was broken when it arrived so I'm thinking alternatives now !!!

Mine had teeth machined into it. They need to be fairly accurate, so didn't fancy doing it myself.
One thing to watch is the angle that you put the sensor at. This caused me a lot of problems and had to be moved to get a better reading.

Cheers for the advice ! Just managed to get through to the bloke that did the pulley and he's going to sort out a replacement - shame in a way - I found a very nice lightweight alloy pulley that only drives the alternator - bit pricey at about $200 from the US - but looked v v v nice !!

Just another thought - you mentioned the sensor being a bit of a pain - where abouts did you mount it in the end ?
