View Full Version : i cut this down all i could but it wont fit
this is the front from my 620 ti donor, i had planned to weld this to the front of the mini, but even though i got it as small as i could, there is no way this will fit, its miles too long and as wide as a cow.
the 2.0l t is going to have to go in a metty subframe, using mgf driveshafts, although i'm having trouble finding them, considering having some made up.
i need to strengthen the front up, just bolting it to the mini and the bottom is not enough, i've seen some vaux conv's that have a structure above the frame and accross to the bulkhead, anyone got a link to any photos like this.

Blimey, that is a long subframe  !!!
have a look at this, the motor at the front sunbathing is the k series, behind is the t16 turbo, and then theres the metty subby, initial thoughts and drawings suggest that the engine is gonna be really hard to fit this subby, and i cant find any salvage driveshafts for an mgf.
anyone know if i get just the plain shaft for the mg, whether the shaft will fit the 600 cv at one end and the metty cv at the other, i know its a silly question.

i remember seing a post on another forum about rover 214 driveshafts fitting a metro. so it would stand to reason that a rover 220 shafts would fit... i could be wrong. prob best asking on a few rover forums.
aha so what you are saying then is that 220 shafts maybe the same as the mgf, as the 214 is the same as the metty, and the 214 is the same track as the 220, so 220 shafts may do my job.
i would not have thought though that the 200 series would have the same track as the metty, the pot joints are probably the same, but i'd suspect the length is diffo, hope im wrong though.

I've just checked the track width for both the metro and 200 in the haynes manuals, and would you belive it, they have the front track for both cars at 1475mm!
That proves nothing with regard to drive shafts of course.
They're haynes figures though, so dont take that as definate! :D
the part numbers for both shafts are actualy different, so they are probably not the same, but it does look like it, the 220 shafts are the same track as the metty.
