View Full Version : K Series conversion
As this forum has no posts yet I thought post the following.
A question that keeps cropping up in the magazines and on the odd forun is "How do I fit a K series into a Mini ?".
It seems that only a few people know that Watsons (the makers of the excellent Vtec frames using K series Metro frames) also modify the frames to fit the Mini so that you can keep the K series in it natural home. The plus points are obviously that all parts such as engine mounts and driveshafts remain unchanged.
Matt, perhaps you could add a K series thread to the FAQ ?
Geehawk has already done the conversion - see www.theclubman.co.uk

I was planning on adding some FAQ to my site as I get emails quite regularly asking "How do I" questions. When I get them done, Matt could put them up here too if he wants??
I'll also be putting a link on my site to encourage other K series builders over here, including this enterprising chap who has built his own frame to fit one under a standard round nose. Its pickup too. V cool 8)

I also plan on emailing both magazines (again!!!!) to try and get my site featured. As you say there is a K series question in every other issue.
There was a nice 1400 K race car conversion about a year or so ago in one of the mags that fitted under a standard length round nose. I think he had to removed the turrets from the Mini frame to get the engine back far enough. The Bulkhead was seriously modded and there was little ground clearance as the motor had to be mounted low.
Nice !!! :D
oops, that was me, forgot to log in !!!

Geehawk do you know what rad they've used in that pickup. I've found there's not room for a front mounted in mine.
Thanks
