I never knew this site was here!!! Ive spent the last year struggling through performance metro websites etc...

Thought you might be interested in my project, and im interested in what you think of it.

Mid engined mini with 1800 K series mounted on a MGF rear subframe, mounted on a kind of Roll cage/spaceframe layout :D Its still in early stages, being a student I only get weekends and holidays to work on it, money permitting but its coming together, next on the list is the reast of the roll cage, coliovers, wilwoods, and a PG1 box. God bless student loans :D

How do i insert some pics of it???[/img]

If you forward some pics to MattG or DarrenW they can make you a club member. Then you get a gallery section for your pics.

Sounds like a very interesting project. I always wanted to do a mid/rear engined estate using MGF running gear.

Hello, welcome, and it sounds jolly marvelous !

I am in the middle of my 2nd 16v mini project, which happens to be a mid mount Rover powered van ;-)

Look forward to seeing some pics.

excellent a 1.8 with pg1 mid engined, or is it a rear engine?, my initial plans were to use a k 1.8 with pg1 box, but i changed my plans and now i'm gonna use the t16 engine which does use the pg1 in its uprated form with torsen diff, except its gonna be at the front, but i'm gonna use mgf drive shafts and box mount, some strengthening of the frame might be required, is the mgf rear subby the same as the metty, or is it strengthened up a bit?.

The MGF frame is strengthened a bit - theres almost a strut brace between the lower arm rear mounts, but apart from that its all the same. Obviously the suspension arms are all different, but hydragas units are all the same., uprated over standard metro equipment, but the same as the Gti's. I thought the mgf had the torsion diff until a few days ago, do you know if the T16 PG1 box will be compatible? I really want to use the mgf's cable gear selector too. Apparently the old Maestro and Montego turbos used the PG1 with a torsion diff too....? Im going for mid-engined, its layed out the same as an MGF, and theyre mid engined *-) i think. Either way, its gona be fun. My brothers been building a mk1 fiesta over the last year or so, and is fitting Yammy R1 carbs, which i like the sound of....almost as bigger improvement as throttle bodies, next to no wiring, look damn sexy etc etc. Any ideas of problems i might have?

the PG1 castings are different form the 2.0 and k-series applications. but the guts should be the same, so imagine you could jsut use your mgf PG1 with the diff (and mayb have to use the final drive and pinion) out an appropriate 2.0 turbo 'box.
