View Full Version : B16 A2 - Complete Donor Vehicle Required - Scotland, Glasgow

Any one know/recommend where I can obtain a complete donor vehicle with a B16 A2 in it for my conversion - in Scotland?

I plan to use a Watsons kit and fit it to my '68 Mini Countryman - which is in a very sorry state.

Cheers

I stay in coatbridge, not too far from you.

I have a b16A SiR engine (70k)( The head was removed to put on the B20 but I'm not building the b20 at the moment due to sleeve issues. I can put it back together with new head gasket and seals if you are intrested.)
OEM exhaust manifold,
OBD0 wiering loom (Labelled before it was removed from the honda),
OBD0 ECU,
a starter motor,
rad,fan,hoses.

you would only need to source a dizzy, mounts and a Y21 gearbox/ clutch. Geoff can supply a Y21 for £250 ( I managed to get a 23k miles one for £150 with a brand new (Box'd) Exedy clutch and pressure plate thrown in  he also does mounts.

I'd be after £750 for the lot with the head rebuilt, £675 as is, if you are intrested. Regards, Scott Gallacher.

Forgive my ignorance here...

What is a Y21 gearbox? Is that the hydraulic type? And is the engine an A2 (I believe this has a bit more guts to it, compared to the A1)

The wiring loom - is it just what is required to fire it up, or is it the whole shebang? i.e. lights, indicators, alarm etc..

So with a gearbox fitted, and the bits from Geoff Id basically be able to throw that bad boy in and get going? :D

I appreciate you getting back to me, and Im certainly interested. [/img]

The b16A1 and A2 are UK engines with 158 HP, one is a cable clutch (A1) one is Hydraulic (A2)

The b16A is a Japanese import engine, the japs don't use denotations after the A. It is 168 HP. ( This is said to be down to the octane rating of the fuel)

My engine is a Jap CRX SiR b16A unit, on paper it has more grunt, but all three are realisticly the same.

The Y21 gearbox is a hydralically opreated clutch gearbox.

The Y1 gearbox is a cable box.

you would only need to source a distributor and A2 engine mounts ( As Geoffs frames are mased on these mounts)

All B series engines parts are interchangeable ie you can swap heads, cams, gearboxes etc, That is how I have attained a B20 Vtec motor, Honda never officially made one, but the block fits to the head with minimal modification. Finding a B20 is the hard part

The loom is a full car loom with no alarm, it still has air con facility. it does not have the leccy windows or rear lights etc, as they stayed in the car. the loom was unplugged from them so also still has all the facilities of a CRX SiR :D

You will still need to look at your fuelling, i see you have a countryman, I believe that you will require an external fuel pump ( Gravity fed cavvy Sri pump should do) I may be able to get one, if not you can get one offf Geoff.
